Orange cake


  1. Beat all ingredients (except of the icing sugar) with a mixer for 5 minutes.
  2. Pour the batter into a buttered cake tin and bake in 200 C for about an hour.
  3. Remove from oven, turn out on a platter and sprinkle with icing sugar.

Note: This version of the recipe is light, especially if using olive oil. You can use butter, add 1/2 cup sugar and two more eggs if you want the cake to be more calorific and with stronger taste.


  • 500 gr self – raising flour
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tea cup butter (or 1 tea cup olive oil)
  • 1 tea cup orange juice
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tspns orange rind
  • Icing sugar
