Bourani
Bourani
Bourani is actually rice cooked in tomato sauce. This recipe comes from Smyrna (Izmir) in Asia Minor, with a slight variation. We do not use onions. This is very easy and low cost recipe to prepare.
Directions
- Mix on a blender the tomatoes with the garlic the sugar, some salt and some pepper.
- Heat the oil on a sauce pan.
- Pour the mixture into the sauce pan and simmer for ten minutes.
- Pour rice into the mixture, add enough water to boil the rice until it becomes tender and no water is left.
- Cook until rice is cooked.
- Serve warm and pour parsley over the rice.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice
- 5 fresh tomatoes
- 3 garlic cloves
- 2 spoons of sugar
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1 spoon of finely cut parsley
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
