Baked gavros with tomato sauce and potatoes

  • Peel off the potatoes and cut them  in thin slices.
  • Place them on a baking pan.
  • Clean the tiny fish (gavros) by cutting the heads and removing the guts.
  • Spread the fish over the potatoes.
  • Mash half of the tomatoes on a blender and mix together with sugar, salt, garlic and pepper. The rest of the tomatoes should be cut in thin slices.
  • Pour mixture over the fish. Pour the finely cut tomatoes as well.
  • Pour olive oil over the mixture and make sure that it is spread all over the baking pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven in 180 C for 40 minutes.
