Baked Sardines with potatoes

Baked sardines with potatoes in lemon and garlic sauce


  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them in cubes.
  2. Place them into a medium size baking pan.
  3. Prepare a mixture of garlic, lemon juice, oregano, mustard, salt and pepper.
  4. Pour the mixture into the baking pan.
  5. Pour less than a glass of water and bake in preheated oven in 180 C until the potatoes are soft.
  6. While baking is in process prepare the sardines. Cut heads, scrape the scales and remove guts. Rinse well to remove scales. Season with salt and pepper and preserve them in the fridge while the potatoes are baked.
  7.  When the potatoes are ready place the sardines on top of them and bake for additional 15 minutes.
  8. Serve warm with the potatoes aside. Pour the juice on top of them.


  • 1 kg sardines
  • 8 medium potatoes
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 tspn oregano
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 spoon mustard
  • Salt
  • Black fresh pepper
  • 3/4 cup olive oil
